As the vaccine rollout increases there are more people who may have been watching the many livestreamed Masses, who would now like to return to Mass in person. I can quite understand that some may be fearful or concerned. Others who have not even been able to watch livestreamed Mass may feel nervous that they will have forgotten what to do or some of the prayers. If you do want to return to church, can I first say how delighted I and all your brothers and sisters will be to see you back among us.There are many faces we have missed since last year and I look forward to seeing you all again. If you are one of these people, can I remind you that the obligation to attend Mass is still lifted and there is no pressure on you to attend in person, but ifyou do want to return to church can I suggest that you ‘ease’ yourself back into Mass by attending some midweekMasses first? There are far fewer people in church during the week which hopefully will allaysome of your fears, and you will be able to get back into the ‘swing of things’ without feeling pressured. Once you’re comfortable with midweek Mass, then think about attending on Sunday. Our parish is not just buildings but the community that occupies those churches for worship. I look forward to the day when we can all unite again in our journey of faith.
