On behalf of our whole school community may I offer you a very warm welcome to our wonderful school. St. William’s is a one form entry Catholic primary school, one mile south of the centre of Bolton. Our school has strong links with Salford Diocese, our parish and the wider community. We are a vibrant multicultural, multi ethnic and multi faith inclusive Catholic school. We celebrate diversity and our aim is to provide a rich, broad and holistic education where all children feel secure, nurtured and cherished.
We are a very friendly and welcoming team who are always willing to help and support each child and their family. Our pupils are friendly, polite and caring who work hard, make progress and enjoy their learning.
In June 2017, OFSTED described us as ‘a caring school where pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding is carefully and strongly nurtured.’
Our Governing Body is very supportive and pro-active, we have a full membership and Governors regularly visit school. They also support all events throughout the year and attend committee meetings and full governors meetings each term. The Chair meets with the Head monthly to ensure the strategic development of the school.
We have a school Pupil GIFT team who support the Catholic life of the school and enhance the spiritual life of our school family. We have an active Pupil Voice Team with representatives from Year 1-Year 6 who meet regularly and make exciting decisions about our school.
We run a variety of after-school activities that change throughout the year, from baking to gymnastics. We also have Bolton Music Service coming into our school each week delivering music tuition for singing, strings, brass, guitar, keyboard and drumming.
We work in close partnership with our parish particularly as the children prepare for the Sacraments. The Sacramental Programme for Y3 children is a joint programme in partnership with our parish, Catechists and parish priest.
Most of our Y6 pupils move on to Mount St Joseph’s School with whom we have a close and effective partnership. There is a transition programme in place each year for Y6 pupils to ensure that they move smoothly on to the next stage in their learning journey.
I hope this has given you a brief insight to our school but of course it is only a snapshot.
We welcome you to come and experience for yourself the very special spirit that is recognised by all who visit. Our school website is available at:
